Valid foreign licence
Visitors may drive on a valid home-country licence plus International Driving Permit (IDP) for up to 6 months, or until visa status changes. GCC nationals may use GCC licences without IDP.
Minimum age
Minimum age to drive a light vehicle is 18. Rental companies typically require drivers to be 21+ (25+ for premium vehicles).
Required documents
Carry passport, valid visa, home driving licence, IDP (if applicable), and rental agreement or vehicle registration.
Common mistakes
Driving without IDP
Most non-GCC licences require an IDP alongside the home licence. Police checks at checkpoints and after incidents are strict.
